Houston METRO notice deadline
METRO must receive your notice of claim no later than 6 months after the accident. The notice explains your injury, when and where it happened and what took place. This rule comes from Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 101.101(a).
The claim form from METRO asks for notice within 180 days, just a few days under 6 months. Treat 180 days as your target.
Time limit for filing a lawsuit
The lawsuit must be filed within 2 years of the accident. That time limit is set by Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 16.003.
