OCTA notice deadline

Your damage claim must be in writing and reach OCTA no later than 6 months from the accident date. This rule comes from Cal. Gov. Code § 911.2(a).

Time limit for filing a lawsuit

When OCTA rejects your claim in writing, the 6 months to file your lawsuit run from that letter. A limit of 2 years from the accident applies if no written answer ever arrives. That time limit is set by Cal. Gov. Code § 945.6(a).

Filing a claim with OCTA

Mail the OCTA Claim for Damage Form to OCTA Risk Management, P.O. Box 14184, Orange, CA 92863-9831. With an injury claim, OCTA also asks for one more item: its Medicare Reporting Form. Official page.
